Feast of Sant'Antonio Abate in Troina

The Feast of Sant'Antonio Abate in Troina is celebrated on January 17, the day of the liturgical anniversary, and in the month of July when the manor party takes place.

In the month of January< /b>, along the streets of the center and in the main square, the traditional pagghiara are set up: large bonfires that are lit to free the devotees from the fire of Sant'Antonio. Sant'Antonio Abate is in fact considered the master of fire and healer of shingles.
On the occasion of the celebrations, biscuits and other dishes are prepared which are shared among the devotees.
The culminating moment of the festivities is the solemn procession of the relic and simulacrum of Sant'Antonio Abate.

The great outdoor party takes place in the month of July. A rich religious program is organized which ends with the triumphal exit and solemn procession of the relic and the simulacrum of the saint.
On the occasion of the celebrations for Sant?Antonio Abate, a rich program of cultural and folkloristic events takes place: traditional games, musical, folkloristic and entertainment shows.
