Feast of the SS. Crucifix in Cammarata
The Feast of the SS. Crucifix of the Angels in Cammarata, which is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday of May, is the best known of the village's religious festivals.
A folkloristic characteristic of the festival is the traditional Cavalcata during which horses and riders parade between two wings of cheering crowds through the streets of the town. It is tradition that the calvalcata begins from the house of the Paliante, that is, the one who has promised an offering of thanks for a grace to be received and who will bring the Palio, and ends near the church where the festival is celebrated and where donations are made the offer.
The culmination of the celebrations is the procession of the SS. Crucifix, with the artistic wooden fercolo from 1863, which passes through the characteristic streets of Cammarata accompanied by the cry of faith of the bearers.
