Easter in Grotte
On the occasion of Holy Week, the sacred representation of the Passion of Christ takes place in Grotte. The representation draws inspiration from the tragedy of Filippo Orioles, The ransom of Adamo of 1750, and starting from this are staged, with the participation of numerous figures in period costume, different moments of the Passion of Jesus Christ.
The sacred representation takes place on Palm Sunday, in which the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is re-enacted, on Holy Thursday in which the last supper and Peter's denial are staged and the hanging of Judas, and on Good Friday when the trial takes place, the condemnation of Christ, the via crucis towards Calvary and the deposition from the cross.
On Easter Sunday at the end of the solemn liturgical celebrations, there is a meeting between the simulacra of the Risen Jesus and the Madonna.
