Lu Signuri di li fasci
The celebrations of the Holy Week in Pietraperzia include ancient rites and traditions, among which the folkloristic Good Friday procession of lu Signuri di li fasci stands out , i.e. the Lord of the Swaths.
The Lord of the Swaths is an imposing simulacrum consisting of a cypress wood beam surmounted by an ancient crucifix kept balanced by about 220 bands of white linen.
The procession is preceded by an ancient rite that takes place in the Mother Church: the rite of Adoration of the Cross and the homage of the faithful. According to tradition, in fact, the faithful place the Misureddi on the body of the Dead Christ, i.e. red ribbons so called because they represent the measure of God's love for his children. The Misureddi are then blessed and worn on the wrist by the devotees during the procession.
In the procession of the Lord of the Bands of Pietraperzia, the procession of the confraternity Maria SS. del Soccorso, the simulacrum of the Lord of the Bands, the urn with the Dead Christ, the simulacrum of Our Lady of Sorrows which is carried on the shoulders of the women of the homonymous confraternity, and the musical bands.
