Caciocavallo Festival in Castel di Lucio

The Caciocavallo festival, better known as the Cascavaddu festival, takes place every year in the village of Castel di Lucio and represents one of the most important summer events in Castelluce.
The gastronomic event aims to promote the < strong>provola dei Nebrodi DOP, with a delicate flavor and a soft and compact consistency, and the ancient tradition of modeling it to make it take on animal shapes.
The expert hands of the cheesemakers Castelluccesi model the curd in hot water giving it the shape of horses, goats, doves...creating real works of art known as murriti, a term that means joking with your hands< /em>.
During the event stands will be set up where you can taste fresh, seasoned, grilled provola and other specialties of the local tradition, stands where you can watch the demonstration of the ancient techniques of processing dairy products with tastings of semi-finished products, quagliata, tuma and ricotta, and the process of modeling the curd to obtain murriti.
During the event, craft exhibitions and folkloric, musical and entertainment shows are organised.
