Wheat Festival in Raddusa

The Grano Festival in Raddusa takes place in the month of September and celebrates the ancient traditions and rituals associated with the harvesting and processing of wheat.
Raddusa is in fact known as the city of wheat: the main economic activity is the agriculture and in particular the cultivation of durum wheat.
Among the events that animate the festival are the following: the historical reconstruction of the weighing of the wheat in the farmyard, an ancient way of separating the grain of wheat from the ear, accompanied by songs and dances and from the carousel of horses used to pound the sheaves to get the grain out of the ears; the construction of the Altar of San Giuseppe; the horse parade in Piazza Umberto and the mythological procession.
During the event, stands are set up for the tasting of typical local products, folkloristic shows and entertainment are organised.
