Ricotta festival in Sant'Angelo Muxaro

The Ricotta Festival in Sant'Angelo Muxaro is traditionally celebrated on January 6, the day of the Epiphany.
On the occasion of the event, ricotta is prepared in the square, according to traditional methods, and offered to visitors.
It is a festival rich not only in flavors but also in folklore, in fact the traditional parade of festively caparisoned horses and the vastasata di Nardu e Riberiu, i.e. a pastoral representation in a comic guise where two shepherds, in traditional clothes, prepare cheese and ricotta amidst insults, funny falls and comic scenes.
In the evening the Heroiad takes place, a representation centered on the figure of Herod who wants to kill the Baby Jesus.
The celebrations end with the procession of the Baby Jesus through the streets of the town.
