Diving Sites in Ustica
Numerous and fascinating are the diving sites present in the sea of the island of Ustica. The Marine Protected Reserve has guaranteed and preserved an environment rich in marine flora and fauna, the presence of volcanic rocks has enriched and made this landscape unique.
Below we list the diving sites on the island of Ustica (clockwise starting from the town of Ustica):
Grotta della Pastizza: a few minutes from the port of the island stands the great arch of the Grotta della Pastizza. The dive is also suitable for inexperienced divers and allows you to observe posidonia meadows, colored caves and sponges of various kinds and shapes.
Punta San paolo: the promontory hides a suggestive underwater show: a cleft in the rock whose walls are covered with orange, purple and yellow spongy encrustations.
Punta Galera: the tongue of lava rock that divides the coast into two coves extends below the surface of the sea creating two coves with a pebbly bottom rich in marine flora and fauna and crystal clear waters. It is a simple dive suitable also for beginners but of immense charm.
Punta dell'Arpa: huge submerged lava rocks host wonderful forests of red gorgonians, sponges, crustaceans , nudibranchs and large prairies of Poseidonia. It is a medium difficulty dive suitable for experienced divers.
Grotta del Tuono: the cave has rocks covered with algae and sponges, nudibranchs, spider crabs, cowries, crustaceans and molluscs. It is a low difficulty dive, also suitable for beginners.
Scoglio del Medico: it is one of the most beautiful dives on the island and in the entire Mediterranean Sea. It features a variety of itineraries that make diving accessible to all. The seabed around the rock is rich in marine life: Barracuda, Amberjack, Grouper, .... The seabed is full of tunnels, caves and canyons that make every dive unique.
Punta Omo Morto: the dive develops along a colorful and steep rocky wall which is the habitat of crustaceans, molluscs and nudibranchs. It is a simple dive, also suitable for beginners.
Punta Falconiera: it is an immersion in one of the most beautiful rock faces of Ustica. It is a very interesting and suitable site, given its simplicity, also for night dives.
