Librizzi stands on a hill bordered by the Timeto and Librizzi streams downstream, and looks north over the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Aeolian Islands.
It is believed that the first inhabited center arose around the year 1100, and that it developed around to the Brichinnai castle, on whose ruins the Mother Church stands today. For centuries, the Bishopric of Patti exercised its temporal power over the town, in fact the bishop held the title of "Count of Librizzi".
Today, the small village houses works of art of considerable artistic value, the surrounding area with its millstones, oil mills and water mills it instead tells the agricultural vocation of the village.
