Rosamarina lake
The Lake Rosamarina , also known as Dam of Caccamo or Lake of Caccamo , is one of the largest artificial lakes in Sicily, created after construction of the dam which represents the most important water resource of the city of Palermo.
Thanks to the clarity of its waters, it allows fishing on sight at about 800 meters from the dam, where large predators are found. There are also a large quantity of carp, tench and bleak.
The dam complex also offers many opportunities for recreation and relaxation: the facility is in fact equipped for excursions, water sports such as canoeing, sailing, wind surfing, fishing, camping, hippotherapy, horseback riding and mountain biking.
Covered by the waters of Lake Rosamarina we find the bridge over the San Leonardo river , known as Ponte Chiaramontano , it was commissioned by Manfredi I of Chiaramonte who became Lord of Caccamo in 1300. The simple medieval humpback bridge with a single arch blends with the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape with its low vegetation and rocky outcrops.
