Church of Carmine in Ciminna
The Church of the SS. Trinità a Ciminna, better known as the Church of Carmine, is a small building of worship in the village.
It was built in the 16th century outside the walls of the town centre. At the beginning of 1600 the Brothers of the SS. Trinità, owners of the church, handed it over to the Carmelite Fathers who built a small convent consisting of five cells, refectory, warehouses and garden. The current appearance is due to the interventions carried out in the 18th century at the behest of Princess Grifeo Filingeri and the contribution of some faithful.
The simple gabled façade, punctuated by pilasters, has a single portal surmounted by a broken tympanum above of which a rose window opens.
Inside the church there are various works: a wooden group depicting the Madonna del Carmine with Baby Jesus and San Simone Stock and the Baby Jesus, locally called U Bammineddu ru Carminu< /em> depicting Jesus savior of the world, works by Filippo Quattrocchi in 1781; the altarpiece, painting on canvas, depicting the SS. Trinity created by Melchiorre Di Bella from Cimin.
