Acate is a charming town in the Ragusa area located on the edge of the Vittoria plain, on the edge of the Iblean plateau.
The history of Acate has its roots in prehistoric times; Sicilians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans and Aragonese have left traces of their passage. The first residential nucleus is represented by the Odogrillo farmhouse, of probable Saracen origin. This, subsequently, with the name of Biscari, became part of the County of Modica.
