Limina is a small village located on the right bank of the Valle d'Agrò, at the foot of Mount Kalfa. The first historical information dates back to 260 BC, when during the First Punic War, a battle was fought in these places bloody battle between Carthaginians and Romans. The first residential nucleus dates back to before the year 1000, the first documented news dates back to 1095. Until the beginning of the sixteenth century the marquisate of Limina was a simple agricultural village, subsequently subject to an urban expansion which led to the construction of structures public and sacred buildings. In 1812, with the abolition of Feudalism, the Marquisate of Limina was suppressed. In 1821 the Municipality of Limina was established.
Where is Limina located? Limina is a municipality in the province of Messina. It rises at 510 meters above sea level, 15 km from the Ionian coast. It is 53 km from the city of Messina and 23 km from the city of Taormina. Its territory falls within the Valle d'Agrò.
How to reach Limina? The simplest way to reach Limina is to use your own car and take the motorway A18 Messina-Catania, exit at the junction for Roccalumera, continue towards Catania until the crossroads for Sant'Alessio Siculo, then take the SP12 towards Limina. Limina is about 19 km from the motorway junction. It is also possible to reach Limina by train: you need to get off at the Santa Teresa di Riva station and from there take a bus or shuttle direct to Limina.

What to see
Limina offers naturalistic glimpses of remarkable beauty. Its small historic center features several sacred buildings and valuable artistic pieces kept within them: at Mother Church, dedicated to the patron saint Saint Sebastian the martyr; the Church of Santa Maria delle Preci, dedicated to the Compatrona ; the Church of San Filippo d'Agira, dedicated to Holy Protector; the Church of San Filippo D'Agira in Passo Murazzo, which serves as a sanctuary and commemorates the passage of Saint Philip in that location.

The most attended religious festival is the Festa di San Filippo D'Agira, Protector Saint of the village, which is celebrated in May and August so that even emigrants can take part. They also celebrate San Sebastiano, Patron Saint of the village, and Maria SS. of Prayers, co-patron. During the Christmas period, the Living Nativity scene is organized among the suggestive streets of the Giudecca district. Among the food and wine events of the village we remember: the Ricotta Festival, and the Wine and Mustard Festival.
