The Museo del Sale is a thematic museum located in Nubia, a hamlet of the municipality of Paceco, in the province of Trapani. It is located in an ancient windmill , within the Saline di Trapani and Paceco Integral Nature Reserve .
The museum is located inside a beam called Casa salaria, a typical 17th century building with a rectangular plan and a gabled roof, used for the milling of sea salt crystals, with a large attached windmill, surrounded by the salt pan called Closed. This salt pan is included in the Intangible Heritage Register of Sicily.
The museum traces, through a guided tour, the stages and events of a history spanning centuries and centuries, exhibiting ancient working tools of the salt workers, black and white photos, and original finds such as tumbles, chairs, the wooden blades of the mills, the spire, that is the Archimedes screw to suck the water from the tub, the wooden strips to measure the salt, and a heavy millstone.
After the visit to the museum, it is possible to walk in the surrounding salt pans between the canals that divide the various salt pans.
Adjacent to the museum is the Salina Culcasi with the Torre di Nubia .
