Palme Villa in Trapani
The Casina delle Palme di Trapani , also known as Chalet , is a Art Nouveau building with floral decorations, characterized by a high palm tree that crosses the attic.
The building is located in the Palazzo district , one of the oldest and most important districts of the city. It was built on a project by the engineer Francesco La Grassa in 1922. The building was used on summer evenings as an outdoor café, a meeting place for the "good" Trapani until the end of the 20th century.
Architecturally, the building is characterized by the presence of floral elements , of stylized parts such as polychrome tiles, and of railings with imaginative lines. The property, with an irregular plan, has two elevations above ground, with a large rear area intended for commercial activity, with a flat roof terrace and a sloping roof.
The surrounding outdoor space fulfilled the function of café-concert and made use, for the shows, of a stage of music, built not far away.
