Artichoke with cap, locally called Cacocciula cu' tappu, is a typical Sicilian dish. It is a typical dish of the feast of San Giuseppe but is enjoyed on many other occasions. These are stuffed artichokes in tomato sauce. The tappo indicates the tasty filling, prepared with eggs, breadcrumbs, caciocavallo cheese and parsley, which forms a small lid on the artichoke. The variety of artichokes most suitable for preparing this dish is the one with thorns.
