Sicilian Cubbaita

The cubbaita is a Sicilian crunch made of honey, sugar, whole almonds and, above all, sesame that is shaped in the shape of a rhombus or rectangle. Its name derives from an Arabic term which means “almond” and in the Sicilian dialect it is often used also as a synonym for nougat. The cubbaita is consumed during the Christmas period, especially after meals.
