Sicilian Nucatoli

Nucàtoli are typical Sicilian filled biscuits included in the list of traditional Italian food products. The nucàtoli are small S-shaped biscuits, open on the surface, from which a mixture of dried figs, raisins, honey or cooked must, walnuts or almonds, orange or lemon peel and aromas comes out. They can be covered with a glaze of sugar and egg white. Traditionally they are prepared for Christmas, in south-eastern Sicily they are already found for the feast of the dead.
