Cheese
HaguardDuNord - CC4.0
Piacentinu Ennese PDO is a hard cheese, made from sheep's milk, with a short or medium maturation produced in the area of Enna, in Sicily. The peculiarity of this cheese lies in its processing: in fact, during production saffron is added, which makes the paste yellow, and black peppercorns. This product remains one of the main elements of local gastronomy, excellent to be enjoyed alone. Legend has it that in the eleventh century Roger I, Count of Altavilla, asked the cheesemakers of the area to add the spice to the cheese to cure his wife's depression.
