Seltz Limone e Sale is a typical drink of the numerous kiosks in the Catania area. Seltzer is essentially water kept very fresh and highly sparkling (carbonated) to which lemon and a pinch of salt are added. This easy-to-obtain drink cools and mitigates the effects of the Sicilian heat. The relatively low cost has contributed to its success. Over the years, the lemon seltzer has been joined by numerous drinks made with variously flavored syrups with the flavors of black cherry, strawberry, mandarin, green mandarin, coffee, tamarind, etc.
