The Turkish heads are typical sweets of the culinary tradition of the city of Scicli. These are large puffs filled with ricotta cream or custard. Their shape is intended to remember the turban of the Saracens from whose threat the inhabitants of Scicli freed themselves in 1091 following a hard battle that is recalled annually during an evocative popular festival held on the last Saturday of May.
