Sicilian almond nougat, otherwise known in dialect as minnulata, is a typical dessert found on the tables especially during the Christmas period. The essential ingredient is Sicilian almonds, famous for their unmistakable flavor. They must be toasted for a few minutes over low heat, then the sugar will be added, which when dissolving will form a thick and sticky syrup that will glue the almonds together. In its preparation, the practice of flavoring nougat with citrus notes of lemon or orange is widespread.
